Colonel Duck celebrates 10th anniversary with a quacking charity walk!

On 1st March 2022, Colonel Duck turned 10!

To mark the occasion, instead of throwing a big party, we wanted to give back to our local community.

Having put out a call for local charities, and with so many to choose from, we settled on Acorns Children’s Hospice, Bethel Health and Healing Network, and St Basils. All three charities do phenomenal work supporting those in the region who require additional help and support.

On the 1st March members of the Colonel Duck team walked 10 miles around Birmingham, dressed as ducks!

Our 10-mile route took us around the city, where we stopped and visited each of the three charities.

Not only did we get to visit our three amazing charities, but we met some wonderful people along the way who stopped to say hello. With every mile we walked, we would have people smiling, waving, saying hello or tooting their horns. Our five yellow ducks brought a little bit of sunshine to the world on what would have been an overcast day.

In total, we managed to raise £1000 which will go a long way to supporting our three chosen charities.

£430.22 was raised for Acorns Children’s Hospice – this will fund 10 hours’ worth of care!

£280 was raised for St Basils – this will cover the shortfall for accommodating and supporting each young person for 56 nights!

£290.22 was raised for Bethel Health and Healing Networking – this will contribute to their campaign to fund a Doula!

Thank you to everyone that has donated and supported us! We are incredibly grateful!

“We are so grateful that Colonel Duck chose us as one of the charities they wanted to support for their 10th anniversary. The amount of money they raised for Acorns is coincidentally enough to fund over 10 hours of care for a life-limited child in one of our hospices – an hour for every one of Colonel Duck’s birthdays!  Thank you to the 5 wonderful ducks who took part in the walk!”
